ANATOMY QUEST / TISSUE PRACTICE
What tissue fits the evidence?
Work independently for 5–8 minutes. Read each skin example, choose a tissue type, and use the feedback to revise your answer. Finish six examples. In your journal, explain one answer using a clue from the card.
EXAMPLE 1 / 6
The surface barrier
Closely connected cell layers cover the outside of the body. Their main job here is to form a protective barrier.
Which tissue type best fits these cells? Choose one.
Tissue reference: four categories
- Epithelial
- Closely connected cells cover or line surfaces and form glands.
- Connective
- Supports and connects structures. Cells and the material around them vary: collagen-rich tissue and fat are both examples.
- Muscle
- Contracts to produce force and movement. Smooth muscle has no visible stripes.
- Nervous
- Carries and processes information using neurons, with support from glial cells.
These are written evidence cards, not microscope slides. A structure’s location alone does not tell you its tissue type.
